Krod to lose pay for remainder of season

The following post is a summary of an article found on FanHouse,  here's the link to the actual article
K-rod will lose pay for 2010

Francisco Rodriguez won't pitch again for the Mets this season after undergoing surgery to repair a torn ligament in his thumb.  The injury was a result of his alleged assault of  his girlfriend's father at Citi Field last Wednesday.  The team has since put the closer on the disqualified list and moved to non-guarantee his contract.  This means that Rodriguez won't be paid or accrue major league service time while he is on the disqualified list, losing out on about $3 million through the end of this season.

The Mets left the door open to terminate  his contract altogether by converting the pitcher's deal to a non-guaranteed contract.  A non-guaranteed contract also means the Mets may get away with not paying him at all.  This process however is still in its early stages, as there's no chance the union will let one of its members lose so much salary and service time uncontested.
