27

27... wow well Nation, that is definitely NOT a number that we can celebrate. 27 a number that Mets & Red Sox fans will now come to hate surely much more than they loathed 26! Yes after 9 years, the New York Yankees have earned themselves another world series title. I must say though that it is quite a relief to see the Yankees take another one and not the Phillies 2peat.

The past month has been quite the rollercoaster. I was filled with such Pride and hope when my Sox clinched though as could be seen by our end of the year performance we clearly fell apart quite disappointing to have lost the last 10 games of the season. Hears hoping that seeing their rivals claim #27 will give our Fenway boys the jolt they need to KEEP IT TOGETHER next year.

As a Met fan I'm sure I can say we all sighed a collective breath of relief last night. I MOST DEFINITELY did not wanna see the phuckin fillies win it (last year doesn't count in my book that was such BULL, Tampa is the real champ in my eye). I must admit though, I would have loved more than anything to have seen the Yankees win it on Monday for the pure fact that it would have been amazin' to see the looks of sad disappointed Phillie fans.

On the plus side NY gets a parade, granted not the parade MetSoxNation would have wanted, but hey better here than somewhere else... with a heavy heart... Thanks Bronx Bombers from your Orange and Blue brothers in Queens!!!

BEST WEEK EVER!!!

Better a little late than never!!!! RSN it is that time of year!!!! Time to celebrate, time to rush out and get all the new gear, cuz our bean town boys got the wild card! BTW RSN mlb.com has great deals on stuff right now. Buy one womens winter hate get a free set of headband! We all know how cold Boston can get, not think of how cold Fenway is gonna be on NOVEMBER 1st? ;)

Keep cheering, Don't stop Believing.

P.S. Mets fans i have not forsaken you, I have just decided to let my orange and blue get some much need R&R! This has been a season that Mets and their fans do not want to remember for more ways than one. Lets hope that our second year in our new home turns out to be the opposite of this.

This explains A LOT!

Our happy hour fact to amaze your drinking buddies with.

In athletic competition, the side that has red as part of its uniform scores 10 percent more than teams that don't.

German psychologists showed clips of Taekwondo bouts between a fighter in red and one in blue to 42 experienced referees. They then showed the clips again, digitally flipping the colors of the combatants' uniforms. In each case, red wearing fighters were more likely to win.

This adds to a straight-up analysis of results that found competitors in red prevail more often. "There is now good experimental evidence that red stimuli are perceived as dominant and that they cause negative effects on performance in those viewing them," concluded the researchers.

This may be yet another explanation for the continued frustrations of the hapless orange-and-blue New York Mets.

Missing the game

So this has been a hard week for me, in to a serious accident in the family and in part to what my parents promised to be a fun and relaxing vacation at the Jersey Shore. However how good can a vacation be when you find yourself surrounded by Phillies Fans and none of the local channels show the Mets game. Last night was especially hard, Yankees v Red Sox & Mets v Phillies and me sitting here unable to watch either game.

Apparently in my time away the one the only Billy Wagner returned to the Mets and pitched an amazing inning from what I hear. Then before I had time to digest such a momentous event, I find out that the Red Sox have claimed the Sandman away on waivers. I'd hate to see him go, but it would be great to see one of my favorite pitchers play for a contender (dare I say potential W.S. winner) at least he's not going to the Yankees! Can't wait till Tuesday to see what happens.

As for the the AL East rivals, well the Yanks displayed their power to Fenway's B squad (Francona pulled out the big guns in the 4th inning). Who know what the final score could have been if the A team were up! One thing for sure, 11-20 will not be repeated today, as the boys from bean town are dominating at 12-1 in the 8th.

Kevin Youkilis has shown that he's unstoppable after returning from a 5 game suspension and hitting 2 home runs today for 5 rbis in the game. Big Papi has hit his 20th hr of the season, and proud papa Pedroia is surely setting a good example for his bouncing baby boy Dylan!

~Keep it up guys always I'M PROUD OF YOU!

And the HITS keep on coming... literally

I know Met fans everywhere are shaking their heads in disbelief. As the NY Mets are in the midst of their 40th anniversary celebrating the Amazin' 69 Mets, I can't help but wonder i n 40 years will the 2009 Mets be remembered as the weakend Orange and Bruised?

In case you missed it, the NY METropolitian hospital (as my dad so adequately calls the team) finally admitted David Wright. Wright became the latest casualty on this streak (one we can't wait to break) when he was hit in the head by a rogue pitch by Giants starter Matt Cain... thus breaking the hearts of female Mets fans everyone.

Wright was hit in the helmet above the ear and dropped to the floor like a helicopter in the Hudson. He then lay there motionless as the entire stadium came to a sudden halt. Everyone held their breaths and prayed. I nearly broke down into tears as I cried out "get up, omg get up David, for the love of G-d please get up!" After several minutes he was turned over my sister goes "oh good he's moving" to which I replied "I'd hardly consider that moving." David was clearly concused; an observation that I was able to make from all the way up in Promenade. Rest assured MetSoxNation he was able to walk off the field granted with some help. It has been reported that he is doing fine and is said to recover soon. He is being held over night at a NY hospital as he recovers from a concusion. For a team already missing the greater part of their power line up; Carlos Delgado, Carlos Beltran and Jose Reyes, any serious injury to Wright would be catastrophic.

So it is now with deep regret that I "welcome" Wright to the injury train. The lone soldier that survived for soo long has been struck down.

YOUKKKKK

Sorry readers... I've been sooo low on energy and even lower on time since having started my new job. I have even attempted to enlist a few staff writers. If you are interested in helping me out on either the Mets or Red Sox aspect of the blog. let me know. I may also be interested in other view points and teams to expand on.

Anyway Im sure any and every mlb fan with ESPN has heard of the bench clearing brawl between my man Youk and Tigers pitcher Rick Porcello. But in case u missed it here's the play by play... or better yet fan footage!!!

All I can say its about damn time. I have been waiting for something like this since the Mets Marlins brawl of 07! As "bad" as it is for sportsmanship and for little kids to see, we all know deep down its something we practically pray for! I mean you saw how the fans reacted; Youkilis was praised! Fights like this really help to light a fire in the swings of the players. Take the results of this game for example .... 7-5 win!!!
Finally what I have been waiting for all season! A bench clearing brawl! Youk ur my hero! Go RED SOX!!!

I haven't posted anything, because i'm trying to pretend the month of August isn't happening... its been a bad 2 weeks for metsoxnation.

FINALLY!!!!

After a long hard lonely devastating month with out a visit to my new home Citi Field, I finally returned home. I am more than delighted to announce that the Mets are now on a 4 game winning streak!!!! Thanks Big Pappa Pelf!!! I LOVE YOU!

This game was just a gem and I'm soo glad to have been there. It had everything. Near homerun thrills. Guys colliding, and falling backwards (for reasons I still do not comprehend) and my favorite; balls bouncing around like they were in a pin ball machine!!!! Mets win 4-0!!!!

As for the Sox... what happened!??!?! The whole game I'm watching the out of town scoreboard following the Sox score and praying for a Yankee loss which i got!!! Now as i'm leaving Citi, the Fenway score is 7-3 in the 8th. More than excited at the prospect of getting home to see Fenway highlights on ESPN, i find that instead it is 7-7 in the 11th inning. WHAT??? The Sox eventually went on to lose 9-8 devastating!

Ramblings

Perhaps this is why one shouldn't procrastinate. Last night I had a brilliant idea for a post and now it has since left my mind.

For starters I'd love to see an end to everyone else's winning streaks. The Mets have gotten their acts together and gone on to win the last 3 games, of course this has done little to help the 4th place Mets as the Phillies, Marlins and Braves have all been winning their games as well. I think its safe to say the NL east is nearly unstoppable for the time being.
The frustration continues as a Red Sox fan. My boys have been playing superbly, unfortunately they too can't catch a break with the god forsaken Yankees hitting win streak after win streak. Let's see what happens this weekend when the 2 rivals meet.
This blogger made a wager with an old friend that if her beloved Sox are victorious after this weekend he is to buy me a New Red Sox jersey, if the opposite occurs i am to wear a Yankee jersey at Fenway on August 10th. Something that for the sake of not combusting into flames before the fans kill I hope does NOT happen.

UPDATE

http://www.nydailynews.com/ny_local/queens/2009/05/14/2009-05-14_citi_field_mets_streaker_emerges_clothed_unapologetic_after_night_in_jail.html

"The Citi Field streaker, his naked ambition finally fulfilled, emerged fully clothed and completely unapologetic Wednesday after a night behind bars.
Craig Coakley, a Mets cap on his head, flashed two thumbs up after posting $1,000 bail for his midgame romp with only a stuffed monkey around his waist.
"It was a once-in-a-lifetime experience," said Coakley, 29, of Whitestone, Queens. "Let's go, Mets!"
Coakley declined to discuss his Tuesday night slide into second base.
His sister said Coakley had planned the fifth-inning foray for eight years. His boss at a Floral Park plumbing company said the streaker proclaimed his plans before leaving work.
"He said, 'I'm probably not going to be in tomorrow,'" recalled John Musella of Tri-County Plumbing. "And I said, 'You're out of your mind.'"
Coakley has one regret from his escapade: a sore backside. "I was sleeping on it all night," he said.
An order of protection barred Coakley from returning to Citi Field pending a June 11 court date. He could face up to a year in jail and a fine of $5,000."

The funny thing is that I'm from Floral Park and know John Musella it seems these, days my town can't stay out of the news.

Alright all ready!!!!

So all these injuries, were cute when they started. Don't right comical back in may actually. I'm a sprained finger to the backup short stop? So now here we are in the second half of the season, and in less than a week since the All Star break, which was supposed to return to us at least 2 out of our 5 big names on the DL, instead Manuel is finding himself scrambling after Gary Sheffield has hurt his hammie, and now Neive seemingly hurt a leg muscle running to first in just the 2nd inning of his tour of duty on the mound. At this point it's safe to say that Castillo, Wright and Murphy have ticking time bombs, only a matter of time before we find the ENTIRE team needing a backup.

WE WANT APPLE

Count on my fellow METS fans to BOO the Home Run Apple for not rising after Fernando Tatis' HR. APPLE APPLE APPLE... Apparently it takes 45 seconds for it to recharge and rise between appearances

So as the fans continue chanting "We want Apple!" It brings me back to the days when the first blue prints of Citi Field were released, and we could no readily identify where the apple would be or if there even would be one (http://www.savetheapple.com/).

It's amazing to see how much that Apple means to us. Only in NY would an apple get a standing ovation! The Mets home run apple arrived at Shea Stadium in 1980. The original apple was about 9 ft wide and weighed over 500 pounds". The original apple also came accompanied by a top hat bearing the words "Home Run" the hat was representative of the 1980 season slogan "The magic is back". As seen today, it has come to the point that Mets fans prefer to see their beloved apple rise in center field rather than pay attention to the batter rounding the bases or curtain calling at the dugout.

Sorry RSN

Sorry RSN for failing to really comment on the status of my beloved Red Sox. However with recent headlines all covering the sudden death of the King of Pop, and the Mets taking me on such an emotional roller coaster as well as preparations to a week long vacation, I have found it very difficult to keep track of my out of town team. I'm just glad that the Red Sox have made it easy for me by staying on top of things. I'm the kind of fan that pays extra attention to their team when times are tough, I know they got the bandwagon for when things are going well.

I would like to take this moment to congratulate Left fielder Jason Bay on becoming a US citizen today. Canadian born Bay was sworn in today at Faneuil Hall in Boston. In an interview he stated that he is proud of his dual citizenship and that although he is now an American "it doesn't mean I cease being Canadian. I'll always be Canadian."

Still hanging on...

As most of us in Mets Mundo know, this has not been an easy week for the orange and blue. After getting swept at home by our cross town big brothers and then losing 2 more to the Brewers, many were ready to count the Mets out. I must admit even I was on the verge of giving up. That's when I came up with the brilliant idea to get a rally going, last year when the Mets all shaved their heads, they went red hot and got some big W's on the board. So since I can't personally go out and shave David Wright's head, I did the next best thing. I took my lil dog Mookie to the groomer yesterday and got him the shortest cut possible, and low and behold the Met have rallied to win their last 2 games.

After and intensely difficult week, the Mets are currently 1 game back in second place due to a tie for first between Florida and Philadelphia. So to all of those talking trash, the Mets are not too shabby! So here's wishing all of you a great 4th of July weekend, especially those of you traveling down to Philly for the series. Who knows after this weekend the Mets can be 2 games up on the Phillies!!! Wouldn't that be great, now that would really deserve fireworks, here's hoping Hernandez, Nieve and Santana can all get the job done, oh and hopefully K-Rod doesn't need TOO much rest after throwing 46 pitches over 2 innings today.

Nothing worth updating...

Oh boy what a week it has been. At least I am among the selected few that can proudly say "I saw the METS win last week." That being said I'm sure one can understand why there hasn't been an update in several days.

I suppose I can't deny that history was made at CitiField sunday night. Congrats to Mariano Rivera a true athlete that has achieved 500 career saves and also recorded his first RBI as a Yankee.

While a noteworthy moment not really one to be proud of. It was expected that the Yankees would win the series against the bruised and battered Mets. This past weekend's match up was a slaughter waiting to happen as the minor league Buffalo Bisons dressed in Mets uniforms faced the All Star Yankees. Honestly had the Mets actually won the series of even a single game, it would have been a major insult to the Yankees and their fans. So for the sake of bragging rights the Yankees are lucky they sweep the Mets, cuz as a Mets fan I can still hold my head high knowing that if Beltran Reyes Delgado Maine and Putz were in the game, the results would have been VERY VERY VERY different!

So that is what a hit looks like!!! Come on METS!!!

Thursday, June 25, 2009

Jon Stewart is my Hero!

Jon Stewart is my hero! Only he could raise my spirits as a METS fan while making fun of North Korea and stabbing the Phillies all at once!!!!

"Ooh a missile launched at us on 4th of July, just in time to hear our terrified population say "OOO, AHHH". Are you familiar with 4th of July? The whole sky is an explosion, it's like being a drag queen on halloween, having a seizure at a rave, or being an asshole from Philadelphia (punches air) BOOM BOOM! That's right Phillie fans you may have this world series, but that's over!"

On my way to the stadium... gee I wonder how long it will be till I say on my way home. I really really miss Shea on day's like today. SUBWAY SERIES tomorrow, Cards in 2 hours. GoTtA Believe LET'S GO METS!!! I'll be there every day till Sunday!!!

Stay Tuned more to come.

The Injuries just keep on coming...

So today it was announced that Carlos Beltran would be moved to the 15 day disabled list due to his MRI results showing a bruised knee.

In other more horrifying news... Jose Reyes and Mets trainer Ray Ramirez were rear-ended by a firetruck on the Robert F. Kennedy (Triboro) Bridge Monday while driving to the Hospital in Manhattan for a check-up visit.
The Mets can only thank their lucky stars that no one was injured in the accident, this could have been another Duaner Sanchez nightmare.

Apparently mum was the word till Tim Redding let the orange tabby out of the bag after the game. "I got here about 10 after 4 and a lot of things were going on, Apparently a lot of things were going on all over the city. Our shortstop and our trainer, who's been working his butt off to keep us on the field, got into an accident. Carlos was getting an MRI and being placed on the DL. And people were being moved, brought up and sent all over the place. So it was a whirlwind day."

More than Sheamous

So apparently Bobby Pharnell knows me. As i was walking back from bull pen gate I and the rest of my crew ran into Pharnell, Stokes, and Takahashi. Promotions Staff walks right past them then Bobby sees me and goes "I know you. What are you doing here?" and I'm like "working" and he goes "wow really? how u been?" and I'm like "um better now, you?" and he says "can't complain". So I respond "well I'll see u guys later, good luck out there" and Stokes replies "thanks".

Further down the tunnel we walk past one of the Mets managers and they just walk past him and I'm like "oo I get to see you twice in one day, what luck", and he's like :the luck is all mine to see u twice in a day".

so we get back to our office and one of the kids that was with me goes "dude u weren't lying u really r do know the players!"

Then we waiting to get into our storage room and Piti from party patrol walks by and "I'm like hey Piti" and shes says "Andrea, you working today? Am i gonna see u later? To which I say "nah I'm tired I'm going home". and shes like "come on stay. I'm gonna be bored without you". The kid then says to me, wow you really know everyone. Then another party patrol girl Jackie comes out "Jackie wheres my tshirt?" "I cant give it to u while you are on the clock catch me later". The kid now looks at me and goes "omg you don't lie, all this time I thought you were full of shit".

Meanwhile this whole time I'm wondering HOW THE HECK does Bobby Pharnell know me?

MO ZONE

Oh MoZone update... While I will not be the new face of Modells and the Mets... the fiance and I did win $200 gift cards which is still pretty sweet! And we have successfully purchased our complete subway series tickets.

and my favorite section of Citi Field will no longer be my favorite section. I have to start ALL OVER AGAIN.

http://brooklynmetfan.com/

"The Mo’s Zone Season Tix Winners are In!!!

And the winnah’s are…

“Kowalski and Sign Man”

If you don’t know him you’ve got to see this guy Kowalski in action.

He is a force to be reckoned with and may very well be the best rally fan you’ll ever see… or hear! Make a point to get to the Mo’s Zone this season to check him out – HE ROCKS!

Partnering with Kowalski is the new “Sign Man”. My favorite thing about New Sign Man is that he pays homage to the original “Sign Man” Karl Ehrhardt who passed away last year. Together they should make quite the tandem at Met games.

I can’t wait to see them in action!

Shout out to Darren and Zee for a solid effort that fell just short of the seasons tix. You know Darren as the guy with the Mets tattoo sleeve on his right arm."

http://blog.nj.com/mets/2009/06/in_search_of_mo_maniacs.html
"And the contest? Unbelievable. I heard fans howl like wolves and offered enough obscure Mets trivia to remind me that I have a lot to learn. I met Andrea of Met Sox Nation and her fiance Michael's Mets jersey that bears the signatures of virtually every Met since 2005 (Yes, Michael was there, too). I learned of the existence of Nibbler the Rally Bird, though stage fright prevented him from offering his patented 'Let's Go Mets" chant. I experienced my first live performance of musical Mets enthusiasts Kuff and the Buttheads. And so on."

I want to thank the Yankees

Ha bet y'all never thought I would say that. But here is a much needed thanks, thanks to the Bronx Bombers for losing 2 out of 3 to none other than the Washington Nationals, a team that's a joke even in the National league. Thanks for getting shut out after an embarrassing 5 and half hour rain delay to make the Frankie Rodriguez' 9th inning collapse a little less pathetic.
While I'm delivering thank yous, I would also like to thank the Phillies for getting swept in Toronto allowing the Mets to have lost 2 out of 3 to the O's without it harming the standings at all. Wow the Mets are a lucky pack, only they can royally screw up soo well and not fall any more games back and remain in second place.

Now as the Mets return home for a much needed home stand, they prepare to face the Tampa Bay Rays. A team that dominated last season and can't seem to find their footing this year. Let's just hold our breathe and hope for the best. Tune in this weekend to see what happens.

500

Wow RSN... today marks the Red Sox's 500th sellout at Fenway Park a streak that started on May 15, 2003. fyi the Sox serving Marlin in their clam chowder.

Blame it on the Full moon

So the METS fell apart, in a game that even I could not bare to watch, not so much because of the score but because it was finally sunny in NY.

Moving on to Philadelphia... First off congrats to Josh Beckett awesome Home Run.
The Red Sox should have put the cap on a series sweep against the Phillies, however this day cap was missing 4 big names Dustin Pedroia, David Ortiz, J.D. Drew and Jason Varitek. Out of those Varitek was perhaps the least deserving of this day off, as he has now earned 3 days off. In my opinion Varitek and his bat should never be out of the lineup, and the games final score was a perhaps a solid proving point (6-11).

TAKIN CARE OF BUSINESS!!!

I must admit after last night, I was just about ready for anything but a W from the METS. Of course as they usually do, the METS absolutely surprised me today.

What are they thinking

"Fernando Nieve hasn't started a game since 2006, but that will end today at 4:10 ET."

Really this is the guy the Met send out to meet the YANKEES??!? I'd rather send Maine and his stomach bug or w.e. it is. Eh Its actually funny, because it seems like Yankee fans have realized that we don't really care, we LOVE our team not because they win, ('cause we don't ever expect them to) but because we just do!

Friday, June 12, 2009

There's no internet service at Yankee Stadium so here i am texting. I can't believe i forgot the Red Sox r playing Philly. So now more than ever GO RED SOX!!! As for Yankee Stadium this place is awesome feels like a ball park shud. No crazy zigs and zags no silly wiffle ball court and dunk tank. Real solid BASEBALL.

Had a great time at the game. The final play if you want to call it that was absolutely disgusting. Honestly this lost hurt more than the final game at Shea, and almost as much as the collapse of '07. At least the Red Sox won!

I can't believe it, the stadium seriously shook. Felt like it was about to collapse, as if an earthquake had hit Yankee Stadium. Yankee fans are truly passionate, at least they have gotten nicer than in past visits to the Bronx.

Battle for NY

Its that time of year... Families split up, couples argue, and neighbors quarrel, its the battle for New York... 7 trainers vs 4, Bronx vs Queens. Yes I'm talking SUBWAY SERIES, Mets vs Yankees. So tonight the recovering orange and blue face the massacred Yankees.

Status Update: Yankees ventured into s familiar enemy grounds where they faced long time rivals in Boston walking into an 0-5 season record against the Red Sox. Now the Bronx Bombers return home 2 games back with a 0-8 season record, surely they plan to take it out on my beloved Mets, who after this Phillies series know how to take a beating.

After 3 games against the Phillies the Mets have only fallen one game back after winning 1 and losing 2, no thanks to Bobby Pharnell (could have been much worse if u ask me.) However if you recall last season the Mets know how to handle the then home run friendly park, well imagine what they can do now at the batting cage that is Yankee Stadium? And now that we have the benefit of Home Run Review, there will be no more Delgado type robberies.

This blogger will be there tonight and tomorrow (no thanks to stubhub.com) to provide the details from the inside. Apparently stubhub has no control over their company. I accidentally over bid on 2 tix for each game not realizing i had entered $145 instead of $45. I wasn't even ready to confirm or w.e. it is, so my mouse was hovering over and then next thing i know it was accepted and I had bid 145 for 2 tix. They look like good seats, except that buy bidding $300 for 2 games, my debit account is now empty.
What I don't get is that even ebay although HIGHLY frown upon, they have a way that you can contact the seller and have them remove the bid or even cancel a sale. That is called having control over your company. I have come to realize that stubhub.com is just a company of scalpers that simply guarantee that the tickets are real. They don't care about anyone, even after I told their representative that my account was compromised, I was transferred to their fraud department where I was told that even if someone hacks into my account and maxes out my credit cards they can't do anything about it. To top matters off there is supposedly NO way to deactivate a stubhub account, so when I die, my stubhub account will continue to exist, to which the stubhub rep said "hmmm never thought of it that way." Um how about your company consider all the possibilities and then run a business in a more LEGAL CUSTOMER FRIENDLY MANNER!

7-0 Red Sox = Yankee Killers!!!!
So i won a family 4 pack to hersey park, a beach towel, and will appear on abc news @ 11 i'm ready to go home and the game didn't start!

The BIG APPLE

RYAN CHURCH BECOMES THE FIRST PLAYER TO HIT THE METS HOME RUN APPLE AT CITI FIELD!!!!

The METS took care of business winning game one of the series! I don't think Citi will ever see so many home runs in a single night.
And the Red Sox remain undefeated against the Yankees.

Rivals Return

We all remember Rivalry weekend back on Memorial Day. For starters I don't think I will ever say this again but I'm so glad I gave up my tix for the Yankees/Red Sox game tonight @ Fenway. But if I were at Fenway I'd be missing the Mets/Phillies game, and i'd be freezing my poor bum out there in the rain. So thank goodness, I used my noggin for once.

Status report: Sox r 1 game back on the Yankees who are currently in first in the East. That being said the Red Sox are 5-0 on the Yankees this season... and we all know it aint gonna happen in our house! So here's to Fenway Faithful, it's time to keep the streak ALIVE. Go Sox!

Wow what a ride I has been for the poor battered Orange & Bruised. The Mets just can't seem to catch a break on this injury train that's rolling through Mets camp. It seems the boys can't go a game without losing someone else. Just when we started to relax thinking Alex Cora could be a good temp for Reyes he gets hurt, leaving the Mets to scramble to find a backup Backup shortstop. Ok Fine. Just when we think we're getting Reyes back, he tears a hammie in a practice game, and that's just the beginning, in the same week we lost Church to injury and Maine and Beltran to food poisoning.
Through it all the METS and their now 6 yea count them 6 rookies (Martinez, Martinez, Parnell, Santos, Murphy (still a rookie in my eyes), and Ken Takahashi) have managed to win enough games to only be 3 games back. An AMAZING feat in my eyes, I'm truly impressed and proud that through everything and everyone that this team has lost in the recent weeks that they are now in a position where by friday's subway series they can very well be the 1st place Mets... Let's just hope the Yankees don't come looking for blood after they get their asses handed to them at Fenway.

I WOULD LOVE TO CONGRATULATE BOTH BIG PAPI DAVID ORTIZ & THE ONE AND ONLY DAVID WRIGHT ON BOTH BREAKING THEIR HOME RUN DROUGHTS TODAY AGAINST THEIR RIVALS. Papi hr #3 for the season, and Wright first hr in over 100 at bats!

Sunday, May 31, 2009

And now john maine is feeling the effects of a stomach virus... Blame beltran. This team is seriously cursed!

Friday, May 29, 2009

Wow both managers and both catchers in the red sox twins game got ejected today

Play in Review

So this past week we've seen our share of home run reviews so far with the Mets winning 4 out of 4 decisions. However after witnessing Youk's foul and Murphy's home run I can't help but wonder, are the umps getting these right?

newyork.mets.mlb.com/media/video.jsp?mid=200905274762659&c_id=nym
I was there last night the one holding a white sign... and I hate to admit but the umps got it wrong. That ball went right UNDER the sign, it never hit. everyone in my area used logic, we could hear the ball hitting the catchers mitt over in the bull pen even with staduim noise, yet we did not hear the ball hit the metal sign, if anything, it missed the bottom of the sign by a hair if anything. it was supposed to be a double. if u saw the game later on kevin burkhardt came over and started interviewing us, and trying to determine wat happened and he admitted that because the sign is yellow and white there was nothing definitive
I'm even starting to feel like the umpires r giving us these reviews as a make up for all the bad calls theyve made in the past. Cuz that was NOT a hr, sadly for the sake of the sport, the umps got that one majorly wrong. The good new is that it doenst matter mets would have won anyway, cuz castro scored on that play (4-3 mets), sheff was tagged out. that still left murphy on second and he would have eventually been driven home cuz the next hit was also a double. Also later on murphy got another rbi so the score would have been 6-4 mets instead of 7-4. so i dont feel bad. for the sake of the sport i would have left terrible if that call determined the game, but it didnt.

What really impressed me was the hr that wen all the way over the centerfield bridge hit by adam dunn that thing looked like it was never gonna drop. it rolled off the bridge after it landed lol. cuz we started yelling throw it back, and someone goes it hit the apple. as in the old shea stadium apple.

Letter of complaint to whom it may concern.

I don't know who to contact about this, or if I'll get anything out of it. I was at yesterday's game with my fiance. As most fans do we were trying to get autographs before the game. So my fiance Michael was over by the Mets dugout waiting for the players to return as were a bunch of other fans. At this time Heidi from NESN was doing a scouting report for SNY as a good friend of our and SNY reporter Kevin Burkhardt watched on. My fiance jokingly said to Heidi "I see you are not married, will you marry me?" She laughed it off and said no. A moment later, Michael asked the camera man if he could give her the cue to go, to which he nodded, so Michael responded "3,2,1, action" and Heidi responded with "I can't do this get him out of here". Security came over saying that Heidi had told him that Michael had been touching her and her hair. The SNY reporter then responded with "He never did that, he's just joking around while waiting for an autograph" to which the security guard said to him, I don't care what you have to say no keep shut or I'll have your network ejected.

I really hope that there is some way that you can help me find the proper person to contact regarding this ejection, as my fiance is looking to go as far as filing a grievance law suit. I really feel that this treatment was completely unjust and uncalled for. I can't help but feel like he was singled out simply because he was a METS fan.

Omg Cowbell Man is at Fenway. Let's go METS!!!
So what better place to blog about mets and red sox then from Fenway park just hour before they meet? Needless to say I am beyond estatic. Last night my beloved mets won courtesy of outstanding pitching by johan. Tonight I look forward to pelfrey and Beckett on the mound. I honestly don't care who takes the win so long as the sox get at least one win. Oh fenway just feels so good so good so good!!!

Another CitiField First!

So tonight the Mets hosted the Braves, which meant I had to take one for the team and leave the game early (top 8th) so that the Boys and Orange and Blue could win (its all about superstition and for some reason I never get to see the METS beat the BRAVES. Lucky for me I didn't leave before getting to see the first NAKED yes you read that right NAKED STREAKER at Citi field. The Streaker was a phenonemon that i had first witness at Fenway Park and then again at Yankee Stadium last year, and now to my delight, the full glory of yet another crazed fan. This one baring the rally cry "Let's Go METS" in neat painted orange and blue, wear nothing but an orange cloth wrapped like a sumo diaper. The male which has been identified as Craig C, began his journey from just behind first base seats and slid into second. The then adjusted himself, and ran into center field where he fell and was finally pounced on by security. He was eventually dragged by security and taken out on the third-base side through the tunnel in section 125 (for those who know the inner workings of the stadium). According to police (No I am not stealing this off of some newspaper source, I spoke to them personally; my 2 yrs as a journalism major at work here...) the man was taken to jail where he will be booked and printed. After making bail or spending the night he will be served with a letter stating that he is not allowed on METS property. If he is ever seen at the stadium again he will then be subject to arrest for trespassing.

"The thursday that would never end"

So what started out as a boring moving day for me turned into a baseball whirlwind for me. Yea my life revolves around the sport even when I least expect it. So where shall I start? I will keep this one short since there is other work I should be doing... anyway...

MANNY... oh boy oh boy Manny as a Red Sox fan all I can say is thank god he's gone, we're doing so much better with J Bay!!!! As a Met fan all I can say is THANK GOD he's not here!!! To all those people who were calling WFAN 660 AM during the off season talking about how the Mets should pick up Manny as if your opinions mattered, all I wanna say to you is HAHHAHAHAHAHAHA, aren't you glad we got Sheff instead. On another note, for the sake of the sport for the sake of Manny's career I really hope that this blemish was truly caused by a medical mistake and not intentional cheating.

METS v PHONIES... So today was an adventurous day at CITI FIELD; esp since I didn't know I had tix till 20 minutes till game time. So Mets meet the Phillies again and won! But this isn't about something you could have seen on SNY or heard on ESPN. Many of us have been aching for a great baseball fight, you know think back to the show stopper back in 07 with the Marlins... well there was defiantly a fight to remember however no players were involved. So I'm not even sure the other guy was a phillies fan, the fight involved one guy in a wright jersey and a guy in a black tee, and the one in the black tee threw a mean punch at the other, the the dude in #5 punches back the other counters by throwing beer in his face. Of course there was a massive fleet of security was there. But what made this fight amazing is that even the players on the field which happened to be the mets, stopped to watch the fight.
The game also hosted another memorable quarrel this one between Manager Jerry Manuel and the 1st base Ump. Manuel was arguing a ridiculous call, Victorino could have easily continued in his attempt to reach 2nd base without needing to push Reyes, after all this is baseball not football. Well now that all is said and done, Manuel can possibly get hit with a fined and even a one game suspension for "hitting" the ump with the bill of his hat.

RED SOX RECORD... 12 runs in 1 inning!!! 12 runs before evening getting an out... I'm speechless!

That's all for now, Keep playing ball!

Oh school, if it weren't for 10 page papers you'ld be reading a long blog post about bad oli v good oli, and what happened to Papi? Will the Mets beat the tamahawk tribe known as the Braves? Can the Sox repeat and blow out the Bombers?

And the streak has come to a sad and bitter end.
Let it be known that the Red Sox are on an 11 game winning streak, and that as of tonight they are also in FIRST place!!! And if/ when the METS SWEEP the Marlins they too will also be at first.

Gee I know this is supposed to be a METSOX blog, and feel bad that it has been mostly Sox oriented, but the METS aren't giving me anything spectacular to write about, so JERRY MANUEL if you're reading this light a fire under the ORANGE and BLUE

And the Sox Sweep the series, securing a 3 game lead on the payroll.

End of the weekend but bury the hatchet NEVER!

So one must live far far under a rock to not be aware of THE RIVALRY. Don't ask which, for there is no rivalry greater than the one that exists between the BOSTON RED SOX and the NEW YORK YANKEES. A rivalry to big that is has long surpassed baseball, Jets fans hate the Patriots and vice versa, the Celtics and Bruins are also outstanding enemies of NY sports fans, but that's not it the rivalry has torn families, cities and states apart.

I myself am a blood traitor as a fan of all things BOSTON and the METS. My father's biggest disappoint wasn't that he never had any sons, but that his only sports loving daughter as a matter of fact the only true sports fan out of all my cousins, chose to become a BOSTON fan. I think he would have accepted me being a Boston fan the same way most METS fans are Red Sox fans. However that wasn't the case. As a product of 86, the Sox have been deeply ingrained in my personal history. My first baseball game surely by g-d's great master plan and not in any way my father's happened to be METS v RED SOX, as the years went on and my daddy tried to get me to fall in love with football I turned my back on his beloved Giants and not even for the Jets which he would have accepted, but for the NE Patriots, and so became my total and complete fascination for NE/ Boston Teams.

I for one blame my history teachers, for if they hadn't made the TEA PARTY and the Witch Trails seem so cool, Boston would be just another city with historical stuff like DC and (gag) Philly (gag).

So here's my history lesson to you:

The Yankee Red Sox Rivalry is the oldest and strongest Rivarly in all of Sports history. Spanning more than 100 years, it's NOT only about Babe Ruth, he's just factor. Many Yankee fans blame the rivalry on jealousy as the Yanks have numerically been the more successful team 26 world series titles compared to 7 for the Red Sox. But like I said before this has everything to do with HISTORY, even before this country was formed the hence before there was major league baseball, the cities of NY and Boston already shared a rivalry, much of which had to do with economic success during the nation's early years.

Then baseball got involved; the RED SOX won the first WORLD SERIES title in 1903. All went well for the Sox until, they were sold in 1916, and after the 1919 season the Sox new owner sold 16 players to the Yankees, including BABE RUTH.
1918 was the last year the Red Sox would see a World Series title until 2004, and the beginning of the CURSE OF THE BAMBINO.

During this 86 year long curse, the Red Sox only won 4 pennant titles compared to 39 Yankee Pennants. Each W.S. that the Sox lost was played up until the 7th game. Adding insult to injury the Red Sox finished 12 seasons just behind the Yankees including 1998- 2003 and almost 2004.

1978 saw a revival of the BOSTON Massacre this time at the hands of the Yankees and not the Brits. During which the Sox lost a once 14.5 game lead to the Yankees during a 4 game series in which the Yankees score a combined total of 42–9. Ultimately both teams were forced into a once game tie breaker for the playoffs, a game NY won.

For 86 year the Yankees enjoyed the luxury of being on winning side of the rivalry, and in 2004 the rivalry took a turn for the worst. Red Sox pitcher Curt Schilling sported a "Yankee hater" hat, and A-Rod and Jason Varitek even found them self in a bench-clearing brawl. In SOXtober, the two teams met again this time for the ALCS for the 2 straight year. The Yanks won the first 3 games with a poetic 3rd game victory of 19-8 (last Sox ws 1918), no team had ever comeback after being down 3-0 in 7 game series, Red Sox fans were just about ready to hang their hats for the season until Fenway was struck by lightening (figuratively) and the Sox came back to win the extra inning game 4, and the extra inning game 5, game 6 with Schilling's bloody sox and finally winning game 7, and sweeping the WS leaving a nasty taste in NY's mouth for a change.

2005: Gary Sheffield cost a RSN a season ticket holder after the fan was involved in a fight with the Yankee Outfielder. Both teams finished with identical records; however.

2007: Sox win the series again, this time a full sweep through the alcs and WS.

2008: During construction of the Yankees new stadium, a true Red Sox Nation member buried an Ortiz Jersey in the stadium (see earlier post), although it did not last, the "curse" allowed the Red Sox to clinched their playoff and eliminate the Yankees from the postseason.

During the stadium's constructions Red Sox President Larry Lucchino, the same man who named the Yankees the "Evil Empire" said "There's some that want to build the 8th wonder of the world, we just want to preserve one that already exists."

NASCAR

As I recover from a nasty METS loss, and I anxiously await a RED SOX victory as they sweep the dirt outta FENWAY, I find myself watching NASCAR on Fox. Yea folks this city girl is also a devote NASCAR fan. So today was the big race at Talledega, Alabama. A track that fans know as "THE BIG ONE" for it is the biggest track in the NASCAR world.

All I can say is thank goodness for the new safer barriers that were recently installed cuz the tracks alias also refers to the many wrecks that occur on that asphalt. Today's race true to form was an intense one. Complete with lots of big crashes. The most devastatin perhaps was the one with 10 to go there was about a 15 car crash. So they restarted with 4 to go, at which point Carl Edwards made the move from 9th to 1, only to have Brad Keselowski spin him out just yards from the finish. Edwards' car went airborne flipped twice into the restraining fences just missing flying into the crowd. i held my breath, and exhaled once Edwards walked out of the car and proceeded to walk across the finish line. So under the official stadings Edwards finished 24th status running... literally RUNNING.

Patriots Day = Pirates Day

"Pirates Shut Down Streaking Marlins"

Finally it has been done... PITTSBURGH killed the Marlins streak in an 8-0 win last night. The Marlins currently stand at 11-2 4.5 games ahead of the NY METS. So for what its worth, PLEASE GOD LET THE PIRATES SWEEP THE DECK WITH THE MARLINS!!!!

Patriots Day

Ok so maybe all of MetSox Nation may not be up to date in the significance of 4.20.09, Not its not national get high day, well to some people it is i suppose, but to Bostonians Patriots Day celebrates 2 things the city holds dear; Red Sox Baseball and the infamous Boston Marathon. Sox take the field at 11:05 am and should be ending just in time for fans to step out to Kenmore Square on their way to the T to see the runners passing by. To me this game take on a deeper meaning, seeing as how my beloved Mets couldn't complete the first Sweep in Citi Field History on Sunday against the Brewers, I must rely on the Red Sox to fill that sweepless void for me. So now more than ever as the Boys from bean town are tied 6-6 with the Orioles, I think its time for the birds to fly home, plus the win would put is in a 2nd place tie with... the Yankees, so now more than EVER GO SOX!!!!

On a side note: is Florida ever gonna LOSE?!?!?! dude 11-1, at least i can proudly say that one loss came at the hands of the army in Orange and Blue. speaking of which its time for some serious wins, how long till we get to play the Nats? Friday can't come soon enough...(Fyi i may have to hang my self if we're the only team to choke on gNats.)

Yankee's Wang is Broken

What a better time to brag then this...
Highest starting pitcher era:
Mets: Pelfrey era 8.10
Red Sox: Matsuzaka era 12.79
Yankees: Wang era 34.5

So much for having the highest payroll in the MLB.
Let it also be known that the Indians hold the record for the most runs scored against the Yankees at the Old Yankee Stadium and now at the New Yankee Stadium as well. The Indians have also made history for breaking the record number of hits and runs scored against the Yankees in all of the evil empire's history.

I guess the fact that they dug up the Ortiz Jersey aint worth sqat, the stadium is cursed... for 86 years perhaps?

Omfg i got hit on by 2 Brewers pitchers, hopefully i was distraction enough! let's go Mets!!!

Editor's note:
So apparently one of the Brewers that I ran into on his way to the bull pen was Seth McClung, for those of you who saw the game he could not handle the pressure in a tie score 9th inning. He then proceeded to load up the bases allowing the METS to claim their second win at their new home. Mission accomplished I wonder if he was thinking of me as he filled base after base. Ok I'm sure he forgot running into me 10 feet after the fact. esp since it was his buddy an unknown hispanic brewer who i was unable to find on the roster, leading me to believe he's simply a bull pen assistant who did all the creepy and somewhat degrading catcalling.

In other news: I also met former Met Daryl Strawberry, when he came to my 3rd base vip gate with his friend to get the promotional keychain we were giving away.

Oh and b4 I forget game highlights.
Mets won the game 5-4 and Gary Sheffield became the first player to record his 500th career home run in a Mets uniform. The historic hit also came as his first with the team during the 7th inning of tonight's game against Brewers reliever Mitch Stetter. Sheffield is the 25th player in MLB history to reach the landmark.
Heading to the game gotta make some $$$ oh and watch the team win.

Fun Times

So I have two professional blogs and now I've decided why not have fun and make semi-personal one.
This blog shall be about me, my life (the good and the bad), my lil Mookie Monstah, and MOST OF ALL it will be about BASEBALL (not that boring stuff like stats and ERAs), but random details such as the "Delta Wright vs Jeter Challenge" (which as of last check Jeter is winning by 1).
